JK Rowling announces new book for adults

J.K. Rowling's agency, the Blair Partnership, announced this morning that the Harry Potter author will be releasing a new novel for adults.

The only other info on the page, besides a graphic, is a note from the author indicating that "While I have loved writing it just as much, my next book will be very different from the Harry Potter series."

A press release further notes:

"Although I’ve enjoyed writing it every bit as much, my next book will be very different to the Harry Potter series, which has been published so brilliantly by Bloomsbury and my other publishers around the world. The freedom to explore new territory is a gift that Harry’s success has brought me, and with that new territory it seemed a logical progression to have a new publisher. I am delighted to have a second publishing home in Little, Brown, and a publishing team that will be a great partner in this new phase of my writing life"

Details will be announced "later in the year." The as-yet unnamed book has been bought by Little, Brown and Company in the UK and US.

Also the her official website has updated itself with the following message :
"Although I've enjoyed writing it just as much, my next novel will be very different from the Harry Potter series."

The site is expected to be updated this spring and people can sign up for further announcements regarding this book.

It's wonderful year in the Harry Potter phenomenon with the last movie releasing and the announcement of Pottermore and the beta of Pottermore. With the announcement of the L.A. theme park and about the new opening of Leavesden studios to the public we can now become closer to this world we always imagined.

The Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2 DVD and Blu-ray will be available in the DVD, Blu-ray, Blu-ray 3D, Blu-ray Triple Play and Digital download editions.

Also the Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 1 is set to be released in Blu-ray 3D. The 8-Film Blu-ray and DVD boxsets are set to be released.

Release Dates: November 11th (US and India), December 2nd (UK)

"Deathly Hallows: Part 2" Reaches No. 3 on All Time Worldwide Grosses

As calculated by Box Office Mojo, "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2" has reached the number three spot on the all time worldwide grosses list. Thus far, "Deathly Hallows: Part 2" has made $1.13 billion. The only two films that have made more are "Avatar" and "Titanic," coming in at first and second place respectively.

Twelve years ago he started of as a 10 Year old when he was cast for Harry Potter and grew through he fandom and love of us Harry Potter fans.
Today he turns 22 after the Harry Potter series has just ended and love him no less.

Google and Pottermore Sign Ebook Deal

Pottermore is bringing Harry Potter to the digital format with ebooks and has signed a deal with Google to use their literary services for this purpose. This fall, Harry Potter will make its ebook debut on Google eBooks, which lets users port their purchases to 80 other readers. The ebooks will be available via Google eBooks, as well as its iOS and Android apps. However, since the Kindle doesn't support ePUB or PDF files, it is not clear how the eBooks will be supported on that device. The books, as previously reported, will be DRM free.

Google also said that it will provide the payment platform via Google Checkout and the video platform via YouTube for this digital Harry Potter experience. This means, that you will be paying for the eBooks directly to Google as opposed to other services like PayPal or Amazon Payments. Pottermore is expected to open up in October. Since the release of the last movie in the series, Potter fanaticism is at an all time high and Pottermore seems to be catching fans just at the right time. Google, too, will stand to gain by partnering with the Pottermore website right at the opportune moment.

Deathly Hallows part 2 makes history

Well, a very non-shocking news. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part 2 has created Hollywood history by becoming the movie to gross the maximum on the opening day.

Deathly Hallows Part 2 grossed an estimated $92.1 million Friday, Warner Bros. said.

The take was nearly as big as the year's biggest three-day weekend to date, and $20 million bigger than the opening-day record held by the Twilight franchise's New Moon.

It was also Hollywood's largest-ever single-day gross, blowing away, among others, New Moon, Eclipse and The Dark Knight.

Speaking of Batman…

The box-office tracking firm Exhibitor Relations today guestimated the final Harry Potter will smash The Dark Knight's three-year-old opening-weekend record with a $175 million Friday-Sunday domestic haul.

So, to recap: Opening-day record; single-day record; opening-weekend record (probably).
